Series you might not have seen (yet)

As the weather gets colder and the days shorter, I prefer staying home & binge watching series. I’ve seen so many series that I’ve seen most of the well-known series such as GG, The Vampire Diaries, PPL, 13 reasons why,… That’s why I am always looking for new series to watch. I’ve listed up my 5 favourite series that I discovered in 2017. So if you’re also a binge watcher or in for some new series, keep reading!

Reign

In this series, you’ll meet up with the 16th century king of France and his soon to become wife Mary Stuart, queen of Scotland. This series is full of intrigues which took place at the French court. The series is fiction and consists of 4 seasons (with 3 of them on Netflix). Not to be missed for people who love some romance in a historical context.

Stranger things

It all begins with 4 little boys playing D&D (dungeons & dragons). One hour later, one of the four is missed while driving home. The town of Hawkins, where the disappearing happened, is in an uproar. Not only officer Hopper starts an investigation, but also the three friends of the missed boy. A while later the three boys find a lost girl with superpowers. Will they still be able to find their friend back?

The second season of the series will start October 27. Little detail: the series take place in the eighties. I love the outfits of the actors!

Riverdale

The series take place in, how would you guess, the small town of Riverdale. Archie is the main character and seems to hide more than you think. Besides, a fellow student is found dead. The sister of the dead student accuses his ex (and their family) of being guilty to his death. This series consists full of drama, romance and dealing with growing up in Riverdale.

The second season of the series will start October 12.

The OA

After 7 years, a missed girl (now in her 20’s) suddenly returns with scars on her back. She doesn’t want to say where she has been. Through the series we get to know what happened during these seven years, but not just for the heck of it. She gathers 5 locals to whom she tells her life story. The series contains science fiction elements, just like Stranger things. I discovered these series as it was a recommendation from Netflix after I watched Stranger things.

SKAM

The last series I discovered this year is also my favourite. It is a Norwegian series that you can watch via Tumblr (Google: SKAM Tumblr, Google Docs). The series is about Norwegian youngsters who discover everything about life and their feelings. The series is mostly filmed at their school, the Hartvig Nissen Skole, a high school with higher education in a rich district of Oslo. Every season (there are 4) is devoted to one person of the series.
